Botox (Botulinum Toxin)

Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to targeted facial muscles. When a muscle cannot contract, the overlying skin stays smooth — eliminating the dynamic wrinkles formed by repeated expression. The effect is gradual relaxation over 3–7 days. FDA-Philippines approved brands: Allergan Botox, Galderma Dysport, Merz Xeomin.

Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers physically add volume beneath the skin surface. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Teosyal) are the most common in BGC — they attract and hold water, plumping the treated area immediately. Results are visible on the table. Calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse) and poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) also available at select BGC clinics.

Botox

Botox in BGC costs ₱4,000–₱30,000 depending on areas treated and units used. Forehead alone: ₱8,000–₱18,000. Masseter jaw slimming: ₱12,000–₱30,000. While less expensive per area, Botox needs to be repeated every 3–6 months — annual cost for ongoing treatment can exceed filler over time.

Dermal Filler

Filler in BGC typically costs ₱15,000–₱25,000 per syringe of HA filler. Most areas require 1–2 syringes. Results last 6–18 months — significantly longer per treatment than Botox. While the upfront cost is higher, the longer duration makes the annual cost comparable or lower for certain areas.

Botox Best For

Dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement: forehead lines (horizontal), glabellar lines (frown lines / 11s), crow's feet, bunny lines, lip flip, chin dimpling, neck bands. Also: masseter reduction for jaw slimming, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), brow lift. Botox is the only treatment that addresses movement-related wrinkles at the source.

Filler Best For

Volume loss and static concerns: nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, tear troughs (under-eye hollows), lip augmentation, cheek enhancement and lifting, jawline contouring, chin augmentation, temple hollowing, hand rejuvenation. Filler cannot treat dynamic wrinkles effectively — it adds volume but does not stop muscle movement.

Botox

Botox has virtually zero downtime — most patients return to work immediately. Occasional mild bruising at injection sites (more common with blood thinners). The main safety concern is technique: eyelid ptosis (drooping) from imprecise forehead injection, asymmetry, or over-treatment. Rare when performed by experienced BGC physicians. Avoid lying down for 4 hours and no massage for 2 weeks.

Dermal Filler

Filler carries 1–3 days of possible swelling and occasionally bruising — plan around social commitments. The more significant safety concern is vascular occlusion: if filler enters a blood vessel, it can cause tissue necrosis or, extremely rarely, vision loss. This is rare but underscores why a qualified physician injector in a clinical setting is non-negotiable for BGC filler treatments.

Botox Role

In the liquid facelift protocol, Botox handles the upper face: relaxing forehead lines, lifting the brow by relaxing the depressor muscles, smoothing crow's feet, and refining the neck bands. It sets the foundation by addressing movement-related concerns before volume is added.

Filler Role
